The Untamed Solitude of the Asir Mountains
Some landscapes demand nothing of you but your presence, offering a profound sense of peace amidst nature’s wildness.
The Asir Mountains were such a sanctuary.
The towering juniper trees clung to the cliffs like sentinels of time, with mist rolling gently between the peaks as if breathing. The only sounds were the rustling of wind through the leaves, the distant bleating of goats, and the soft calls of unseen birds in the canopy above. I remember hiking a solitary trail above Rijal Almaa, with clean, crisp air, feeling a connection to something ancient and enduring. In that untamed solitude, I understood John Muir’s sentiment: “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”
The Asir Mountains offered not only breathtaking scenery but also a deep sense of inner quiet, reminding me of the restorative power of the natural world.
